The White House launched a series of social media parodies targeting the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, attempting to pivot the global attention surrounding the couple toward President Donald Trump.

The activity peaked on Friday, July 3, 2026, after Swift and Kelce exchanged rings at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Following the ceremony, digital billboards outside the venue displayed the message JUST&T MARRIED!. The official White House X account responded shortly after with an image mirroring those pink screens, but replacing the announcement with the text Trump is your president, accompanied by the caption IT’S HAPPENED!!!

The wedding, which included 1,000 guests and performances by Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, was officiated by comedian Adam Sandler. Other participants included Swift's brother, Austin, as the man of honor and Kelce's brother, Jason, as best man.

This was the culmination of a multi-day social media campaign by the administration. On Thursday, July 2, the White House posted an image of Trump at the center of a political poster themed after Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. The image depicted Trump with his fist in the air, surrounded by iconic American moments and figures, including the moon landing, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln. The text read America’s Eras Tour, and the caption used a lyric from the song Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince: It’s been a long time coming…

On Friday, the White House further extended the theme on X with two videos montage-ing American history. One proclaimed Next in America’s Eras Tour, while the other touted America’s greatest hits, one era at a time.

The timing of the wedding coincided with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. President Trump has planned a Salute to America program for July 4, 2026, featuring the largest fireworks display in history and a really long speech at the National Mall. However, the president's own concert ambitions for the holiday weekend faced setbacks; musicians such as Bret Michaels and Martina McBride dropped out of his planned Freedom 250 concert to avoid association with the partisan event.

The administration's trolling follows years of public friction. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, seeking a leader of calm and not chaos. In response, Trump wrote on Truth Social in September 2024, I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT! He later posted in May 2025, questioning if people noticed that since he expressed his hatred, she was no longer 'HOT?'

The animosity dates back further to 2020, when Swift accused Trump during BLM protests of stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency. Trump responded by stating he liked her less and less and suggesting her liberal views would cause her to pay a price…in the marketplace.

Despite the social media jabs, Trump offered a more tempered public stance during the couple's engagement in August 2025. When asked by a reporter, he told CSPAN, Well, I wish them a lot of luck, adding that he believed Kelce was a great guy and a great player and that Swift is a terrific person. He also predicted the couple would not last.

The president's engagement with celebrities has recently included AI-generated content, such as a video of himself as a doctor treating Robert De Niro and Julia Roberts for Trump Derangement Syndrome.
