IWC Schaffhausen has expanded its contemporary luxury sports watch lineup with the introduction of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool (reference IW324902). This latest addition to the 35-millimeter collection debuts a vibrant aquatic shade described by the brand as a radiant turquoise, designed to evoke the feeling of summer and poolside relaxation.

The release arrives as part of a broader celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ingenieur SL, the original 1976 design by Geneva artist Gérald Genta. While the Ingenieur lineage began in the mid-1950s as a tool watch featuring a soft-iron cage for magnetic protection, Genta's 1976 blueprint transformed it into an integrated tool watch. This DNA remains present in the Automatic 35, which retains the barrel-shaped case, a round bezel secured by five functional screws, and the signature grid-patterned dial.

The "Pool" dial utilizes a negative relief grid composed of alternating stamped blocks of vertical and horizontal lines. To ensure legibility, the watch features rhodium-plated applied indices and hands treated with Super-LumiNova. A date window at 3 o'clock is set against a white disc with black numerals, while the lightning-bolt logo is positioned at 6 o'clock. The peripheral track of the dial is snailed.

Constructed from stainless steel, the watch features a 35-millimeter diameter and a slim case height of 9.4mm. It is rated for water resistance up to 100m. IWC has employed a combination of surface treatments to manage light, utilizing vertically brushed finishes on the case and crown guards, while the integrated bracelet features polished central H-links contrasted against satin-finished links.

The timepiece is powered by the calibre 47110, an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, central hacking seconds, and a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vph). The movement contains 23 jewels and is based on the 1847 MC from sister brand Cartier, though it is assembled and regulated by IWC. Visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, the movement is decorated with Geneva stripes and circular graining, and features a gold-plated oscillating mass.

The Pool reference is the sixth model in the 35mm line. It joins a collection that includes:

  • Stainless steel with a silver-plated dial (Ref. IW324901)
  • Stainless steel with a black dial (Ref. IW324906)
  • 18-karat 5N gold with a gold-colored dial (Ref. IW324903)
  • A deep blue dial (Ref. IW324907)
  • An 18-karat 5N gold bezel set with 45 white diamonds totaling 0.7 carats (Ref. IW324911)

The Ingenieur Automatic 35 Pool will be part of the permanent collection. Retail pricing is set at USD 11,200, EUR 11,100, or CHF 10,500. Other regional pricing includes £8,900 and $16,500 in the Australian market.

This release follows a period of aggressive expansion for the Ingenieur line. After the 2023 launch of the Automatic 40, IWC introduced a limited-release 40mm version with a green dial and gold accents (Ref. IW328908) that gained visibility during the filming of an F1 movie. More recently, at Watches and Wonders 2026, IWC unveiled further high-complication models, including a 42mm ceramic version in dark olive and a solid 18-karat 5N gold Tourbillon 41 limited to 100 pieces.
