PlayStation delays FlexStrike wireless fight stick due to production issues
PlayStation has postponed the launch of the FlexStrike wireless fight stick, pushing the release of the peripheral to an unspecified future date. The company announced the delay on its official blog on July 14, 2026, citing unexpected production delays
as the cause for the postponement.
The FlexStrike was originally slated to launch on August 6, 2026. This date was strategically aligned with the release of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a Marvel-themed fighting game developed by Arc System Works and published by PlayStation. While the fight stick is delayed, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls remains scheduled to become available on August 6 for PC and PS5.
The postponement disrupts a coordinated launch strategy. By releasing the hardware alongside one of its most notable titles of the year, PlayStation likely intended to generate higher sales for the peripheral. Because the two products are now decoupled, the FlexStrike may struggle to achieve as strong a start as originally planned.
The FlexStrike is the first fight stick created by PlayStation. Designed for tournament play and portability, it features a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a sling carry case. Its design mimics arcade cabinets, utilizing familiar PlayStation buttons that are laid flat. The device retails for $199.99, though other regional prices include £179.99 GBP, €199.99 EURO, and ¥34,980 JPY.
Regarding compatibility, the device is built for PS5 and PC. However, there are conflicting reports on the rollout: while some materials state compatibility for both, other details specify that the stick will initially be usable only on PS5 upon launch, with PC compatibility rolling out to more users over time.
"We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches,"

The news has drawn criticism from the broader gaming community. While the fighting game community initially met the device with cautious positivity, players across various genres are now criticizing the brand. This backlash follows a recent decision by PlayStation to favor digital downloads over physical games.
Pre-orders for the hardware had opened on June 12, 2026. Customers who pre-ordered directly through direct.playstation.com can continue to check their order status via the website and will receive further communications from the company. Those who purchased the device through third-party retailers must contact those specific sources for updates or questions.
The FlexStrike is part of a wider wave of 2026 hardware, which includes the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers and a 27-inch QHD IPS Gaming Monitor with a DualSense Charging Hook. The monitor, which supports up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro and up to 240Hz on compatible Macs or PCs, was available for pre-order starting June 5 for $349.99 USD and ¥49,980 JPY.
Because the FlexStrike no longer has a broad launch window, there is a possibility the release could slip into the fall or even 2027. PlayStation has promised to share another update with more details soon.
