The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Wimbledon men's singles final on Sunday, July 12, 2026, accompanied by their two eldest children. Prince William and Kate Middleton took their seats in the Royal Box at Centre Court alongside 12-year-old Prince George and 11-year-old Princess Charlotte, where the family received a standing ovation upon entry.
The royal group watched as Italy's Jannik Sinner defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev to secure his second consecutive Wimbledon title. Following the victory, Kate, who has served as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, presented Sinner with the Gentlemen's Singles Trophy.
The appearance was part of a busy schedule for the Princess of Wales at the tournament. On Saturday, July 11, she attended the women's singles final, wearing a red belted Roland Mouret dress with nude heels and a cream purse, to present the Venus Rosewater Dish to champion Linda Noskova. She had previously visited the tournament on July 2 for a second-round match, wearing a sky blue pantsuit over a white T-shirt with gold hoop earrings and taupe shoes.
For the men's final, Kate wore a bespoke green midi dress by Emilia Wickstead featuring short sleeves and a one-shoulder cape detail. She accessorized the look with brown Ralph Lauren pumps, a DeMellier leather handbag, and Van Cleef & Arpels drop earrings. Pinned to her chest was a purple plaid striped bow, a symbol of her patronage of the club. Princess Charlotte wore a blue knee-length dress with frilly capped sleeves and white ballet flats. Prince William and Prince George wore navy suits with striped ties, though reports vary on the specific colors; some sources describe William in a gray suit with a blue shirt and George in a traditional black ensemble.
While Prince George and Princess Charlotte are now familiar faces at the event, the youngest sibling, 7-year-old Prince Louis, was absent and has yet to make his Wimbledon debut. George first appeared at the men's singles final in July 2022, just before his ninth birthday. Charlotte made her debut in 2023, watching Carlos Alcaraz win the title. She returned in 2024 for a "girls' day" with her mother and aunt Pippa Middleton.
The 2026 outings follow a period of significant personal challenge for the Princess of Wales. After announcing in March 2024 that she was undergoing cancer treatment, Kate made one of her first major public appearances at the 2024 men's singles final, where she also received a standing ovation. In January 2025, she shared that she was in remission.
"I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,"
Kate, via XIn a subsequent post on X, she thanked those who "quietly walked alongside William and me" as they navigated the diagnosis. More recently, the Princess participated in the National Three Peaks Challenge, trekking the highest peaks of Wales, Scotland, and England to support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
"I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But more importantly it’s to give something back,"
Kate, via Instagram videoReflecting on the experience in an Instagram tribute, the Princess noted that cancer profoundly affects every aspect of life, stating that the journey beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone. This sentiment was echoed by tennis legend Andy Murray, who told Hello! on Saturday that the royal family's presence is a valued tradition for tennis fans, particularly those from overseas.
