FAQs: DBS yuu Card, yuu Points and 10 mpd at yuu merchants
The DBS yuu Card provides up to 10 mpd or an 18% rebate based on a tiered reward structure. Cardholders must meet a minimum spend and merchant requirement to unlock full bonuses.
DBS yuu Card: Understanding the 10 mpd and 18% Rebate Structure
The DBS yuu Card provides high-value rewards for spending within the yuu ecosystem, offering up to 10 KrisFlyer/Max Miles per S$1 or an 18% rebate. However, achieving these rates requires cardholders to navigate specific spending conditions, including minimum spend thresholds, merchant requirements, and bonus caps.
Earning Rewards and the "4-Merchant Rule"
To unlock the full 18% rebate or 10 mpd, cardholders must meet two primary criteria each calendar month: a minimum spend of S$800 and transactions at four different participating merchants. SimplyGo is included as a participating merchant to help users meet this requirement.
The reward structure is divided into different tiers:
- Base and Bonus Reward 1: Cardholders earn 10 yuu Points per S$1 (5% rebate or 2.78 mpd) at yuu merchants with no minimum spend.
- Bonus Reward 2: An additional 26 yuu Points per S$1 (13% rebate or 7.22 mpd) is awarded once the S$800 minimum spend and four-merchant requirement are met.
Total rewards for qualifying spend equal 36 yuu Points per S$1. This is derived from a conversion rate where 1 yuu Point equals 0.5 cents or 0.28 miles (3.6 points to 1 mile).
Spending Caps and Card Variants
Bonus Rewards 1 and 2 have a combined cap of 28,800 yuu Points per calendar month, which translates to a spending cap of S$822.86. Because this cap applies on a card-level basis, users can double their monthly bonus cap by holding both the DBS yuu AMEX and Visa cards. In this scenario, a cardholder can earn 10 mpd on combined spending up to S$1,645.72, provided the S$800 minimum spend and four-merchant rule are met on each card.
While the Visa and AMEX versions share the same points earning rates, the AMEX version includes exclusive offers, such as 15% off Bloomingdale's, free trials on PressReader, and up to 30% off selected hotel bookings via the Amex Benefits platform.
Participating and Excluded Merchants
Eligible merchants include Cold Storage, CS Fresh, Giant, Guardian, 7-Eleven, Gojek, and Singtel. However, changes to the merchant list are ongoing. Cardholders should note that "Featured Brands" in the yuu app, such as Agoda or Trip.com, are not yuu merchants; while they earn points via the app, they do not trigger the DBS yuu Card's bonus points. Furthermore, some brands are grouped together for the four-merchant requirement; for instance, Cold Storage, CS Fresh, and Jasons Deli count as a single merchant.
For those needing to hit the minimum spend, payments at Singtel self-serve kiosks are eligible for 35 yuu Points per S$1. This includes "Singtel Billing" for services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Store.
Points Conversion and Redemption
Yuu Points are pooled into a single yuu account and can be redeemed in several ways:
- Cash Rebates: Points can offset purchases at yuu merchants at 1 point = 0.5 cents. A minimum of 200 points (S$1) is required.
- KrisFlyer Miles: Transfers are processed instantly via the app. A minimum conversion of 200 points (56 miles) is required.
- Max Miles: Redeemed via fixed-denomination vouchers in the yuu app, which are then entered into the HeyMax app. Members are capped at 50,000 Max Miles per calendar month.
- App Vouchers: Some redemptions, such as S$5 Gojek vouchers, offer higher value (1 cent per point).
Critical Terms and Tracking
The minimum spend is based on the transaction date, not the posting date. However, there has been conflicting information; some users reported DBS claiming the settlement date (posting date) takes precedence. The yuu app provides a tracker to monitor progress toward the S$800 spend and the four-merchant requirement, though updates may take 3 to 14 days.
Non-yuu transactions earn only 0.5 yuu Points per S$1 and are not recommended for those seeking to maximize rewards, although they do count toward the S$800 minimum spend. Exclusions from the base reward include cigarettes, plastic bags, and stage 1 infant milk powder, though these items still qualify for Bonus Rewards 1 and 2.
Bonus rewards are typically credited within 60 working days after the end of the calendar month, usually arriving between the 20th and the end of the following month.
