Madison Square Garden hosted a crossover event on Saturday as members of the recently crowned NBA championship squad appeared during WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The appearances by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns followed the conclusion of Fanatics Fest in New York, drawing significant crowd reactions at the venue where the Knicks captured their first league title in decades earlier this year.

Karl-Anthony Towns participated in the earlier portion of the event to assist the wrestler Danhausen in his match against JD McDonagh. Towns made a dramatic entrance emerging from a container labeled as a cloning machine. During the contest, Towns intervened physically, delivering a chokeslam to McDonagh and a second chokeslam to Dominik Mysterio that drove him through a wooden table. Following these maneuvers, Danhausen secured a victory with a move dubbed the "Triple D." The alliance between the two was formed after they met during the week at Fanatics Fest, an introduction facilitated by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin. Danhausen had previously been credited with assisting the Knicks during their postseason run by removing a perceived curse, a contribution for which Towns expressed gratitude.

The evening’s main event featured a guest appearance by Jalen Brunson, who walked to the ring alongside WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at approximately 10:00 p.m. Brunson, who is currently recovering from surgery on his left wrist and wearing a brace, was introduced by Reigns as the NBA Finals MVP and the "King of New York." The crowd responded with chants of "MVP" and "you deserve it" as Reigns presented Brunson with a custom blue and orange WWE championship belt. The pair stood in the ring with the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, which was also brought out for the celebration.

The ceremony was interrupted by the arrival of Seth Rollins and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers. As Rollins launched a surprise attack on Reigns, Haliburton slid a steel chair into the ring to facilitate the assault. Brunson intervened in the confrontation by positioning himself in the path of Rollins, a move that provided Reigns the space to counter with a Superman punch and a spear. Rollins and Haliburton subsequently retreated, leaving the ring area while the Knicks stars and the WWE champion remained.

Brunson’s presence at the arena served as a return to the floor where he led the franchise to the championship during the previous season. While he has participated in WWE events in the past, his physical involvement remains limited due to his recovery from his recent wrist procedure. The interaction between Brunson and Haliburton continues a professional rivalry previously seen on WWE programming.

The evening concluded with the acknowledgement of the Knicks' recent championship victory, including an arena display featuring a championship blimp dedicated to the team's achievement.
