Madonna is returning to the dance floor. The artist has officially announced the release of Confessions II, a sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, scheduled to arrive on July 3, 2026, via Warner Records.

The announcement follows a period of strategic teasing. On April 14, 2026, Madonna wiped her Instagram feed and updated her website with graphics for COADF2, leaving only the lyric Time goes by so slowly from her hit song Hung Up in her bio. The formal confirmation of the album title and release date followed a day later.

The new project marks a return to Warner Records after Madonna spent three albums with Interscope. In September 2025, she described the move as a homecoming on Instagram, writing, And it Feels like home with Warner Records! Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began!

A Spiritual Approach to Dance

While the original 2005 record was a sleek DJ set that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won a 2007 Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, Confessions II is framed as an evolution. Madonna has reunited with producer Stuart Price, who worked on the original record. In December 2024, she shared that their studio sessions had been medicine for my SOUL.

The artist is positioning the sequel as a manifesto on the spiritual nature of club culture. In a statement, Madonna challenged the idea that dance music is superficial, asserting that the dance floor is a ritualistic space where movement replaces language and a place to connect with your wounds, with your fragility.

The road to Confessions II began with a series of timeline shifts and anniversary celebrations. In December 2024, Madonna initially told fans to expect new music in 2025. By February 2025, she was referencing the project on Instagram as Confessions Part 2, later calling it Confessions Part Deux in July.

In November 2025, the original album turned 20. To mark the milestone, Madonna released a Twenty Years Edition of the 2005 record on streaming services. This special edition included the original 12 songs, remixes of the four singles—Hung Up, Sorry, Get Together, and Jump—and three bonus tracks: Fighting Spirit, Super Pop, and History.

Warner Records co-chairmen Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson described Madonna as the blueprint and the ultimate cultural juggernaut, promising that this new era would bring creativity and impact.
