Sarah Abo to leave Channel Nine and Today show at end of year
Sarah Abo has announced she will leave Channel Nine and step down as co-host of the Today show at the end of the year to pursue other opportunities.
Channel Nine has confirmed that Sarah Abo will conclude her tenure as co-host of the Today program and depart the network at the end of the year. The announcement was made via a press release on Wednesday afternoon, while the presenter is on maternity leave.
Abo expressed deep gratitude to the audience and her colleagues in an official statement released by the network.

Reflecting on her time at the network, Abo highlighted her dual role across morning television and investigative journalism. "Together with 60 Minutes, I’ve spent my time at Nine chasing stories, travelling and reporting from all over the world, interviewing some incredible and inspiring people from all walks of life," she said.
Family Milestones and Network Contributions
Abo's exit coincides with a major personal milestone. She welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Sonny, with her husband Cyrus Moran in July. In her statement, she noted that motherhood has brought a new chapter to her life.

She also paid tribute to the production staff and co-hosts who share the grueling early-morning schedule. "I’d like to thank the wider Today team – the amazing crew, incredible producers and my wonderful fellow hosts – you all know how much you mean to me. It takes a special kind of crazy to wake up at the hours we do but it’s so much easier when the team feels like family. I’ll miss you all dearly," she added.

A Year of Turmoil at Today
Abo's departure follows a turbulent period for the breakfast program. Her exit comes on the heels of several high-profile changes at Channel Nine.
Karl Stefanovic abruptly resigned from the network in June. In a statement to The Daily Mail, Channel Nine said that Stefanovic could not continue working at the network while also hosting his podcast.
Additionally, Today weatherman Tim Davies, who after seven years in the role, announced his departure last month.

Industry Rumors and Future Speculation
Speculation surrounding Abo’s future has circulated within the media industry. In August, Woman’s Day first reported that Today would be facing a major shakeup after an industry insider said Sarah was set to leave the network. A source close to production alleged that that the treatment of Sarah from Nine has been ‘poor’.
The insider says that Seven had been eyeing Sarah off for some time. Another insider weighed in on the Seven rumours, saying that Dr Chris Brown and Sarah Abo could be looking to join forces in the future.
An announcement regarding the Today line-up for 2027 will be made “soon.”
