White House Trolls Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding Announcement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married Friday night, July 3, 2026, in a star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The union of the music megastar and the NFL superstar was marked by a blend of high-fashion glamour and a surprising choice of officiant, but the celebration was quickly met with a series of social media jabs from the official White House account.

The wedding, which occurred as fans gathered in blistering heat outside the Midtown Manhattan arena, remained largely secret until approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. At that time, digital screens around the venue lit up with pink neon signs reading JUST&T MARRIED! to confirm the news. Shortly after, the official White House X account posted a spoof of the announcement. The post, captioned IT’S HAPPENED!!!, featured a fake image of purple digital signs outside the Garden that instead read, Trump is your president.

This interaction follows a pattern of digital friction between the president and the singer. On Thursday, July 2, during the reported pre-wedding rehearsal dinner, the White House account posted an image of President Trump at the center of an "America's Eras Tour" political poster, flanked by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The account captioned the post It's been a long time coming…, which is a lyric from the Swift track Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.

The tension dates back to 2024, when Swift endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump responded on Truth Social by writing, I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT! and later wrote in May 2025, Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she’s no longer 'HOT?'

However, the president had previously softened his tone. Following the couple's engagement announcement in August 2025—which the pair shared on Instagram with the caption Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married—Trump stated during a Cabinet meeting:

"I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck."

Inside the arena, the couple, both 36, were wed by comedian and friend Adam Sandler. The ceremony was attended by approximately 1,000 guests, including celebrities such as Camila Cabello, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Jason Sudeikis, and Karlie Kloss. The guest list also featured athletes and media figures, including New York Giants receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, Seattle Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp, and NFL announcer Joe Buck. Author Jenny Han and actor Jessica Chastain were also seen entering the venue.

The couple opted for a minimalist wedding party. According to publicist Tree Paine, there were no bridesmaids or groomsmen; instead, Austin Swift served as man of honor and Jason Kelce served as best man. Both newlyweds wore Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson, paired with custom Christian Louboutin shoes. Swift completed her look with Cartier jewelry.

Security and privacy were strictly enforced, with reports that phones were not permitted inside, leading to a lack of social media posts from guests once they entered. The event concludes just as the nation prepares for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. President Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech at the National Mall on July 4, coinciding with a Salute to America program and the largest fireworks display in history.
