Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced release for July 9
Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch on July 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The title is a full remake of the 2013 adventure, rebuilt using the latest version of the Anvil Engine. Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the project saw the return of many of the original game's developers to adapt the experience for current-generation hardware.
The remake focuses on a solo experience and has removed the original multiplayer mode and first-person modern-day gameplay. While the main campaign is playable offline after an initial internet connection and download, online access is required for Animus Hub-linked content, including Projects, Vault, Store, and Anomalies.
Release and Preload Schedule
Ubisoft is employing a staggered rollout for both pre-downloads and the final launch. Xbox Series X/S players have the earliest access to files, with pre-loading having begun on June 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM UTC.
For other platforms, the schedule is as follows:
- PlayStation 5: Pre-loading begins July 7 at 12:00 AM local time. The game launches July 9 at midnight local time.
- Xbox Series X/S: Pre-loading is currently active. The game launches July 9 at midnight local time.
- PC: Pre-loading begins July 7 at 2:00 PM UTC. The game unlocks globally on July 9 at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM BST.
The PC version will be available via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect, as well as through Blacknut and GeForce cloud streaming services. Because the PC version uses a synchronized global unlock, region-changing tactics will not grant earlier access. Additionally, the game is Steam Deck Verified for launch.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The remake introduces several technical upgrades, including ray-traced lighting, micropolygon rendering, and dynamic weather. Ray tracing is divided into two tiers: standard, which enhances global illumination for diffuse lighting, and extended, which improves reflective surfaces.
PC requirements include Windows 10 or 11, 16 GB RAM, and 65 GB of SSD storage. Ubisoft provides graphics presets ranging from 1080p Low at 30 FPS up to 4K Ultra at 60 FPS. The engine supports frame generation and the latest upscaling technologies, including software raytracing for devices lacking hardware-accelerated GPUs.
Console performance varies by hardware:
| Platform | Mode | Resolution/Performance | Ray Tracing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X | Quality | 4K upscaled, 30 FPS | Extended |
| Xbox Series X | Balanced | 4K upscaled, 40 FPS | Extended |
| Xbox Series X | Performance | 4K upscaled, 60 FPS | Standard |
| Xbox Series S | Standard | 1620p upscaled, 30 FPS | Standard |
The PS5 version includes PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution 2.0 (PSSR 2) and utilizes DualSense features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. A PS5 Pro version is also available, featuring higher graphical fidelity, additional rendering features, and dedicated graphics modes for hair effects.
New Content and Storage
The remake adds new story content, including storylines for Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard, as well as new allies in the main narrative. Gameplay updates include a reworked combat system driven by parrying, more flexible stealth, new sea shanties, and pets for the Jackdaw. A comprehensive photo mode has also been added.
These additions have resulted in a significant increase in file size. The game requires approximately 64.1 GB on Xbox Series X/S, 63.1 GB on PC, and 61.9 GB on PlayStation 5—nearly double the 30 GB required for the original PC release.
Players who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe Edition will receive the Blackbeard’s Crimson Pack, which contains a unique costume for Edward Kenway, a sword, and a pistol, both of which provide unique perks.
Launch Day Update
Ubisoft has confirmed the game has gone gold. However, the studio will release Update 1.002 on July 9 to address bugs and performance issues discovered shortly before the master pressing. This update is intended to resolve frame rate drops, making the pre-load process critical for those using disc versions to ensure the game is optimized at launch.
