Ubisoft is bringing its open-world racing title, The Crew Motorfest, to the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026. The game will be available through the Nintendo eShop and via physical retail editions, according to Ubisoft.

The launch arrives three years after the game first debuted in 2023 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This release marks the first time the The Crew series has been available on a Nintendo platform. This move follows other major third-party ports for the Switch 2, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Retail and Pricing Details

The game is priced at $49.99, or £44.99. However, the physical retail version uses a Game-Key Card format. While Pocket Tactics reports that the game will be on the cartridge, Technobezz states the physical box contains a code rather than a playable cartridge, describing it as a cost-reduced option from Nintendo that requires a full download.

To attract new players, Ubisoft is providing a five-hour free trial. Pre-orders are expected to open following the official announcement.

Gameplay and Features

Set in the Hawaiian archipelago, specifically the island of O‘ahu, the game centers on a celebration of car culture. Players can explore the city of Honolulu, drive on the slopes of a volcano, and navigate various roads across the landscape. The game features over 700 vehicles, including cars, bikes, boats, and planes, which can be switched between with a button press.

The experience is built around thematic campaigns and over 30 playlists that cover different eras of automotive history, such as Japanese-style street racing and American muscle. Players can customize their vehicles and participate in a custom contest mode. For those who played The Crew 2, existing vehicles can be imported into the Motorfest garage.

Competitive and community features include:

  • Grand Race: Online races featuring 28 players.
  • Demolition Royale: Vehicle combat involving eight teams.
  • Summit Clash: A challenge-based mode to dominate leaderboards.
  • TrackForge: A tool allowing players to create and share their own tracks.

Technical Requirements and Market Position

A significant limitation for the Switch 2 version is the requirement for a persistent internet connection. Because it is an always-online game, the portability of the handheld may be affected.

The timing of the release puts the game deep into Year 3 of its seasonal content. According to Technobezz, this allows Ubisoft to fill a gap in the market, as Mario Kart World currently dominates the arcade racing space and there has been no announcement of Forza Horizon 6 for the Switch 2.

The news was first broken by insider billbil_kun via Dealabs before being confirmed by Ubisoft. While some sources mention a trailer, others note that no trailer has been released yet.
