Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami to face UK sex crime charges

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested on Saturday, 18 July 2026, in Miami, Florida. Federal authorities apprehended the pair following a sealed warrant issued in connection with a series of rape and sex trafficking charges filed by prosecutors in the United Kingdom. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the brothers are currently in custody and awaiting extradition proceedings, which are expected to begin in a federal court early next week.

The arrest marks a new development in a protracted international legal saga involving the siblings, who are dual citizens of the U.S. And Britain. British authorities are seeking the brothers’ extradition to answer for charges, following a new file of evidence provided by Bedfordshire Police. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that the recent charges, which relate to four additional victims, bring the total number of alleged victims in the U.K. Case to seven.

Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, detailed the specific allegations on Saturday. Andrew Tate, 39, faces seven counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 counts involving indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. These alleged offenses reportedly occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.

The new filing adds to an existing U.K. Case involving 21 charges related to three other alleged victims. Andrew Tate had previously been charged with 10 counts including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain, while Tristan Tate faced 11 counts, including rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking. Karena Thomas, assistant chief constable of the Bedfordshire Police, stated that officers are working with international law enforcement agencies on the investigation, emphasizing that there is no place for violence against women and girls.

The brothers, who previously gained notoriety as kickboxers and for their social media presence promoting wealth and hypermasculinity, have consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, characterized the new charges as filth and slander and suggested the move was an effort to prevent his clients from advancing defamation lawsuits in the U.S. McBride expressed confidence that a judge would ultimately dismiss the case, asserting,

"We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work."

The brothers’ legal history extends beyond the U.K. They were arrested in Romania in 2022 alongside two other individuals on allegations of luring women for sexual exploitation. That case has faced significant procedural and legal hurdles, and the brothers were permitted to leave Romania in February 2025. They subsequently relocated to Florida via private jet.

As the legal process moves forward, the CPS has cautioned against online commentary that could prejudice the pending proceedings. The Tates remain in custody in Miami while they await their court appearance.
