Trump says Board of Peace reaches agreement on disarmament of Hamas in Gaza

United States President Donald Trump announced on Thursday, that his Board of Peace has secured an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. The President described the deal as a historic and monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY in a statement posted to his Truth Social website.

The disarmament process is intended to occur in structured phases. According to the President, this agreement represents a major milestone in the implementation of the Trump 20-Point Plan. Once the disarmament is complete, Israeli forces will withdraw from the enclave. An International Stabilisation Force will then work alongside a new Palestinian police force to ensure the area remains safe for its residents and neighbors.

Trump stated that the deal is a critical step toward the establishment of a new Palestinian government. This new administration is expected to work closely with the Board of Peace to assist the Palestinian people. The President added that under the terms of the agreement, Gaza will be governed by a government that serves its PEOPLE and that Israel will have the security it deserves, as Gaza will no longer be used as a base for terror attacks.

The disarmament follows a ceasefire brokered by Trump in October to end the war in Gaza. The conflict, which began on October 8, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of more than 73,000 Palestinians and the wounding of over 174,000 others, the majority of whom were women and children. Reports indicate that approximately 90 percent of the infrastructure in the enclave has been destroyed. Some analysts suggest the official death toll is an undercount and could be two to three times higher than current estimates.

Despite the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, Israel has continued daily attacks. These actions have killed 1,214 Palestinians and wounded 3,977 others. On Thursday alone, Israeli attacks killed six more Palestinians, including two children. Israel has also been accused of seizing more territory and restricting the movement of goods and people.

Hamas has not officially commented on the announcement, though Al Jazeera reports receiving a copy of the document agreed upon by Hamas and other Palestinian factions. Leaders from Hamas have been in Cairo since late last week, engaging in discussions regarding the ceasefire deal with mediators from Turkiye, Qatar, and Egypt. An unnamed Hamas official described the talks as positive and stated they were making progress.

The movement, which was founded in 1987 and governed Gaza starting in 2007, is designated as a terrorist organization by the United Kingdom, Israel, and the United States. On July 6, Hamas announced the dissolution of the body it had used to govern Gaza for nearly two decades.

President Trump expressed gratitude for the efforts of the mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye, as well as his own team. He emphasized that the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild!

Israel has not yet reacted to the statement made by the United States President.
