Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim Scott, attempted suicide before being rushed to hospital

Kim Scott, the former wife of rapper Eminem, was hospitalized Saturday evening, July 11, following an apparent suicide attempt at her home in Chesterfield Township, according to reports from TMZ and other outlets.

Audio of a 911 call obtained by TMZ reveals a dispatcher informing first responders of a suicide attempt. The dispatcher stated that a caller reported his aunt had cut her wrist and was bleeding while sitting on a couch listening to music. During the call, the dispatcher noted that the knife remained in Scott's hand and she would not give it to the caller.

According to the reports, Scott eventually became unconscious, allowing the caller to remove the knife from her hand. Chesterfield Township Fire/EMS reports listed the incident type as Hemorrhage/Laceration and noted that dispatchers received word she was unconscious/fainting around 8 p.m. That Saturday.

Footage and photos obtained by TMZ showed a woman identified as Scott being removed from her home on a gurney and transported by ambulance. While she appeared conscious in the footage, she was rushed to McLaren Macomb hospital in Mount Clemens for treatment. Chesterfield police confirmed officers responded to the residence, but no update on her condition or diagnosis was available as of Tuesday, July 14.

The medical emergency follows a period of legal and health struggles for Scott, also referred to as Kim Mathers. Over the past two weeks, she has been involved in court proceedings regarding allegations of drunk driving. In June, Judge William Hackel of the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore issued temporary bench warrants after Scott failed to appear at hearings; these warrants were later rescinded.

Her criminal defense attorney, Camilla Barkovic, told the judge that Scott's absence was due to her being extremely ill, suffering from significant health issues and repeatedly vomiting.

Scott's legal troubles this year include two separate drunk driving cases. On Feb. 16, she was involved in a hit-and-run crash where her Range Rover struck a parked silver Dodge Ram pickup truck. On June 26, she pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges, including impaired driving with children in her vehicle, and agreed to an out-patient treatment program. However, on May 13, Scott was charged with felony drunk driving after striking a Jeep Cherokee while driving a 2026 Kia in Chesterfield Township.

Macomb County prosecutors are currently considering whether to hold a hearing to determine how Scott tested both positive and negative for alcohol in tests taken minutes apart during her arrests this spring.

Scott and Eminem, 53, have a history marked by two marriages—first from 1999 to 2001, and again for three months in 2006. Despite their volatility, a source told Us Weekly in 2013 that the pair maintained a friendly dynamic as coparents, stating they were together all the time for the sake of the kids.

The couple share a daughter, Hailie Jade, 30. Eminem is also the adoptive father of Alaina, Scott's sister's biological child, and Steve, Scott's son from a previous relationship. The former couple are now grandparents; Hailie welcomed a son, Elliott, in March 2025, and Alaina gave birth to a daughter, Scottie, in April.

Eminem has remained largely private about his personal life since his second divorce. In a 2017 profile with Vulture, he mentioned that dating had not panned out in a way he wanted to make public. More recently, a source told Us in 2025 that Eminem was dating his longtime hair stylist, Katrina Malota, though neither party has publicly confirmed the relationship.

Scott has not publicly addressed her recent hospitalization.
