Tottenham in talks to sign Savinho and Omar Marmoush
Spurs are pursuing a potential double signing of Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. The move follows a period of significant squad remodeling.
Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a potential double swoop for Manchester City pair Savinho and Omar Marmoush as they look to cap off an aggressive summer transfer window. According to The Athletic, talks between the two clubs are advancing, though an agreement has not yet been reached.
The potential deal for the Brazilian winger and Egyptian forward is estimated at approximately £140m. This move would follow a surprise bomba
signing promised by head coach Roberto De Zerbi. The pursuit of Savinho dates back to August 2025, when Tottenham discussed a package worth around €50million (£43.3m), but the player ultimately signed a new contract with City until 2031.
Savinho has struggled for consistent game time at the Etihad, starting only seven Premier League games last season. A move to north London would reunite him with Xavi Simons, his former teammate at PSV Eindhoven during the 2022-23 season. Before joining City in a €40m deal from Troyes, Savinho recorded 11 goals and 10 assists on loan at Girona, helping them secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
The interest in Omar Marmoush stems from Tottenham's need for attacking depth. Dominic Solanke has faced injuries over the last 18 months, and Richarlison has only one year remaining on his contract. Marmoush is viewed as a flexible option capable of playing as a lone striker or alongside other forwards. While he scored 8 goals in 36 appearances last term and played five times for Egypt at the World Cup, his profile has been limited by playing behind Erling Haaland at City and Mohamed Salah with the Egyptian national team. Previously, Marmoush scored 15 goals in 17 games for Eintracht before joining City in January 2025.
These targets arrive after a massive remodeling of the Spurs squad. The club has already spent a combined £229.5million on three marquee signings:
- Sandro Tonali: £100m from Newcastle
- Mateus Fernandes: £85m from West Ham
- Jan Paul van Hecke: £52m from Brighton
The defensive line has seen further shifts with the arrival of Andy Robertson on a free transfer from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi, also arriving for free. In contrast, last season's captain Cristian Romero has joined Atletico Madrid, and Djed Spence has departed for Inter. In goal, Martin Dubravka joined on a free transfer from Burnley to serve as the understudy to first-choice keeper Antonin Kinsky, following Guglielmo Vicario's loan move to Juventus.
While the City duo are primary targets, other names remain on the radar. Reports indicate interest in Chelsea's Pedro Neto, though Chelsea has reportedly increased his valuation to as much as £100m. There are also conflicting reports regarding Liverpool's Cody Gakpo; while some sources suggest the deal is unlikely, others claim talks are continuing. Additionally, former scout Mick Brown suggested Tottenham view Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as a potential upgrade over Dominic Solanke.
The flurry of activity aims to transition the club away from recent struggles and establish them as legitimate top-four contenders. Tottenham now have until the transfer window closes on September 1 to finalize these deals.
