Oppo is reportedly prototyping a flagship smartphone that could redefine mobile long-range photography. Leaks from the tipster Digital Chat Station suggest the upcoming Oppo Find X10 Ultra will feature a sophisticated dual-periscope telephoto camera system designed to significantly improve image clarity and light gathering.

The core of this upgrade focuses on expanding sensor sizes. According to reports, Oppo is testing a 50-megapixel periscope super telephoto camera with an approximately 1/1.95-inch sensor, which supports 10x optical zoom. This represents a substantial hardware increase over the Find X9 Ultra, which utilized a 50-megapixel sensor in a 1/2.75-inch format for its 10x zoom.

A larger sensor allows the device to capture more light, which is expected to result in sharper, brighter photos and reduced digital noise, particularly in challenging low-light conditions. One report specifies that Oppo may be testing a Samsung ISOCELL GNB sensor for this 10x optical lens.

Dual-Periscope Ambitions

While the 10x lens is a key focus, the Find X10 Ultra is expected to maintain a dual-periscope setup, combining both 3x and 10x optical zoom. For the 3x periscope lens, leaks indicate Oppo is weighing two different 200-megapixel sensor options:

  • A sensor measuring approximately 1/1.3-inch, similar to the one found in the Find X9 Ultra.
  • An even larger 1/1.12-inch sensor, which matches the size of the main camera in the Find X9 Ultra.

Some reports suggest Oppo may even be experimenting with a "stratospheric" configuration where both periscope lenses utilize 200-megapixel sensors. This could involve the Sony LYT-910, a sensor expected to debut in early 2026. However, these specifications are based on prototypes and have not been finalized.

Front Camera and Display Hardware

The innovations extend to the front of the device. Digital Chat Station confirmed on July 2, 2026, that the prototype features a front camera with a square sensor. This design, comparable to Apple's Center Stage camera, would allow users to capture portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the phone by flexibly cropping the image. Earlier reports suggest this could be a 100-megapixel sensor.

Other leaked hardware specifications for the Find X10 Ultra include:

  • A 6.89-inch 2K LTPO BOE display featuring ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels and BT.2020 colour gamut support.
  • The forthcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, likely produced via TSMC’s 2nm process.
  • A high-capacity battery exceeding 7,000mAh, with some rumors suggesting it could reach approximately 8,500mAh.

Launch Timeline and Market Strategy

The Find X10 Ultra will not be the first of its generation to arrive. Oppo Find series Product Manager Zhou Yibao has confirmed the Ultra model will not launch in 2026. Instead, the standard Find X10, Find X10 Pro, and Find X10 Pro Max are expected to debut between September and October 2026.

The Find X10 Ultra is anticipated to debut in the first quarter of 2027. This staggered release follows the precedent of its predecessor, the Find X9 Ultra, which debuted in May.

By doubling down on dual-periscope hardware, Oppo is positioning the Ultra series to challenge rivals like Apple and Samsung in the ultra-zoom category.
