Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami facing UK extradition requests
U.S. Marshals arrested social media influencers Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan on Saturday in Miami. The brothers were taken into custody on a sealed warrant as British prosecutors announced an expansion of criminal charges and began seeking their extradition to the United Kingdom.
The arrests occurred outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate was scheduled to appear at a bare-knuckle boxing event. Federal agents were seen handcuffing the brothers, according to reports from TMZ.
The move comes as Britain's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) approves 38 new charges related to four additional alleged victims. These new allegations involve crimes that occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Combined with previous charges, the total number of alleged victims in the U.K. Case has risen to seven.
Expanded Criminal Charges
Bedfordshire Police confirmed the brothers now face a combined total of 59 charges. Andrew Tate, 39, faces 42 charges, while Tristan Tate, 38, faces 17.

International Legal Saga
The Tates, who hold dual U.S. And British citizenship, have a history of international legal disputes. They moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022 on accusations of participating in schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation. While they denied those claims, the Romanian case stalled due to procedural and legal problems.
In 2025, Romanian officials allowed the brothers to leave the country. They arrived in the U.S. On a private jet in February. Andrew Tate has claimed that the Trump administration assisted his exit from Romania, though the White House has not confirmed this.
Attorney Joseph McBride, representing the brothers, has condemned the U.K. Charges as filth and slander
and madness
. McBride told The Independent there is not a shred of evidence
of such abuses and characterized the situation as political persecution
. He claimed the charges are intended to disrupt a criminal investigation into the brothers launched last year by Florida's state Attorney General James Uthmeier.
McBride also asserted there was a longstanding agreement
between Romania and the U.K. Not to extradite the Tates while they were dealing with the court process in Romania.
Public Profile and Influence
Andrew Tate rose to mainstream prominence in 2016 on the U.K. Reality show Big Brother
, but was removed six days after a video surfaced appearing to show him attacking a woman. Both brothers are former professional kickboxers who built a following promoting hypermasculinity and male non-monogamy.
While Andrew Tate has over 10 million followers on X, he has been banned from Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for violating hate speech guidelines. He has faced condemnation for rhetoric suggesting women who are sexually assaulted should bear some responsibility for those attacks.
The brothers are vocal supporters of Donald Trump. Reports indicate Andrew Tate met Donald Trump Jr. At Trump Tower in 2017, and in 2024, Barron Trump reportedly spoke to Andrew over Zoom, though the Tates called that specific report fake news
.
The brothers are expected to make an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida early next week.
