Digimon Story Time Stranger Releases On Nintendo Switch & Switch 2

Digimon Story: Time Stranger casts players as an agent of the secret organization ADAMAS. The narrative follows the protagonist as they investigate a city-leveling explosion, only to find themselves transported eight years into the past. The adventure spans both the human world and the Digital World, known as Iliad, as players attempt to prevent the collapse of both realities. Throughout the journey, players can collect, tame, and command more than 450 Digimon in strategic, turn-based combat that emphasizes the bonds between humans and their digital partners.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game offers enhanced technical specifications, providing players with two distinct display modes. Users can select Quality Mode, which supports 4K HDR at 30 frames per second when docked, or Performance Mode, which enables Full HD at up to 60 frames per second. For those playing on the original Nintendo Switch hardware, the game runs at 1080p when docked and 720p in handheld mode, both at 30 frames per second.

Bandai Namco has implemented specific guidelines regarding save data and platform features. While save data can be transferred between a Nintendo Switch console and a Nintendo Switch 2 console, the publisher noted that save files are not cross-compatible between the Switch and Switch 2 versions of the software. Additionally, a demo version of the game is available for download on both systems. While players can transfer their progress from the demo to the full game, this transfer must occur on the same platform; for example, demo data from a Nintendo Switch cannot be imported into the full version of the game on a Nintendo Switch 2.

Pre-order options include three distinct editions: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Digital Ultimate. Early purchasers receive the Uniform of a Certain School costumes, an Adventure Item set, and specific Agumon (Black) and Gabumon (Black) characters. The Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions further expand the content with items such as the Cyber Sleuth set, costume packs, additional side missions, and access to a Season Pass. This pass includes three upcoming DLC packs—each featuring five additional Digimon and a new story episode—along with the Golden Moai farm item for the in-game Digifarm.
