Motorola expands its Australian portfolio with the razr fold book-style foldable and the razr 70 ultra flip phone, both featuring advanced AI and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic.
Motorola Launches Its First Book-Style Foldable Smartphone In Australia
Motorola has expanded its premium mobile portfolio in Australia with the introduction of the razr fold, the manufacturer's first book-style foldable smartphone. The launch includes the flagship razr 70 ultra flip phone and Swarovski crystal editions of the motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus as part of the Brilliant Collection.
The razr fold transitions from a 6.6-inch external display to an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO internal canvas. It is the only foldable to integrate Sound by Bose technology.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, paired with 12GB of DDR5 RAM with RAM Boost and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Users can utilize several AI assistants, including Google Gemini, moto ai, and Perplexity AI. For productivity, the handset is compatible with the separately sold moto pen ultra stylus, which supports sketching and annotation.
Imaging and Durability
The razr fold's camera system received a Gold Label from imaging benchmark DXOMARK, where it ranked as the top foldable tested. The rear array consists of:
- A 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor with Pantone Validated colour.
- A 50MP periscope telephoto lens with up to 100x Super Zoom Pro.
- A 50MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision.
The system supports 8K video recording with Dolby Vision. For selfies, the device features a 32MP internal camera and a 20MP external camera.
Built with a stainless steel hinge, the razr fold is the first smartphone to use Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. Motorola's internal testing indicates this material provides 75 per cent better drop performance than first-generation Gorilla Glass Ceramic. The device is powered by a 6,000mAh battery with 80W TurboPower charging, which Motorola says can deliver more than 43 hours of use per charge.
The Razr 70 Ultra and Brilliant Collection
Alongside the book-style foldable, Motorola released the razr 70 ultra flip phone. This model runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, featuring the third-generation Oryon CPU and Adreno GPU. It includes a 4-inch external display.
The razr 70 ultra is the first flip phone to use a LOFIC sensor within its triple 50MP camera system. Motorola labs measured this sensor as having up to six times the dynamic range of the previous razr 60 ultra. The device includes AI features such as Group Shot—capable of recognizing 10 faces—Signature Style, and Camcorder Rotate to Zoom. Its titanium-reinforced hinge and external Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic survived at least 10 one-metre drops onto asphalt-like surfaces in Corning's lab testing.
The flip phone's silicon-carbon 5,000mAh battery supports 68W TurboPower charging, which the company claims provides a full day of power from approximately eight minutes of charging.
Motorola also introduced Swarovski editions of the motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus. Both are finished in PANTONE Violet Indigo. The motorola signature features crystals in a 3D-quilted pattern, while the moto buds 2 plus include Sound by Bose audio.
"We are fulfilling a growing consumer need for a device that goes beyond communication and truly keeps pace with every part of modern life,"
