Optoma launches flagship UHR90DV home projector in Japan via AVAC partner
Optoma has officially launched its latest flagship home theater projector, the UHR90DV, in the Japanese market. To support the rollout, the company is strengthening its partnership with AVAC, a leading specialty retailer of home audio and visual equipment in Japan.
The collaboration is designed to accelerate growth within Japan's high-end home theater sector. Optoma identified Japan as one of the premier markets for luxury home cinema in Asia, noting that local consumers typically seek professional installation, comprehensive after-sales support, and high standards for sound and picture quality.
Under the terms of the partnership, AVAC will manage technical support, sales promotions, and product demonstrations for the UHR90DV. This arrangement aims to provide a one-stop customer experience that spans from initial consultation through to final installation.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The UHR90DV utilizes an RGB Triple Laser light engine, which employs dedicated red, green, and blue lasers to achieve color accuracy. According to Optoma, the device offers 5,000 lumens of brightness and a contrast ratio of 4,500,000:1, allowing it to maintain visual performance in rooms with ambient lighting.
The projector supports screens up to 300 inches and features a motorized lens system to allow for flexible installation across various room layouts. For longevity, the laser light source is rated for up to 30,000 hours of maintenance-free operation when used in Eco mode.
Color performance is a central feature of the hardware, with the UHR90DV covering 96% of the BT.2020 color gamut and 98% of DCI-P3. The device also integrates PureEngine™ Ultra image processing technology to enhance frame precision and realism.
Cinematic Standards and Gaming
The flagship model is engineered for compatibility with several high-end industry formats to preserve a director's original vision. These include:
- Dolby Vision®: Optimizes color, contrast, and brightness on a scene-by-scene basis.
- HDR10+: Uses dynamic metadata to enhance individual frames.
- IMAX Enhanced: Provides picture quality inspired by IMAX theatrical settings.
- Filmmaker Mode™: Reduces unnecessary image processing.
Beyond cinematic use, Optoma stated the UHR90DV is designed for responsive gaming performance to ensure smooth gameplay on a large-screen display.
Marketing and Sustainability
Optoma and AVAC are implementing digital marketing initiatives to link the launch. Customers will be directed from Optoma's social media channels to AVAC's specific product pages to schedule demonstrations and receive purchasing advice.
The projector was developed under the Optoma Green Promise initiative, which incorporates environmentally conscious design principles to reduce the product's environmental impact.
"By combining Optoma's innovation in projection technology with AVAC's professional expertise and localized customer service, we aim to deliver the exceptional image quality of the UHR90DV and a premium ownership experience to more customers in Japan,"
