ThundeRobot is challenging the traditional trade-off between gaming power and portability with the introduction of the ZERO Air 16. The company claims the device is the world's lightest 16-inch gaming laptop equipped with an RTX 5070, weighing in at 1.64 kg.

To achieve this weight, ThundeRobot utilized carbon fiber for the chassis construction. This makes the machine lighter than many 14-inch gaming laptops that feature comparable RTX 50-series graphics. While the LG gram Pro 16 serves as a close 16-inch competitor in terms of portability, that model utilizes an RTX 5050 rather than the more powerful RTX 5070. Similarly, while ASUS ROG offers lighter models, those are 14-inch designs.

Hardware and Specifications

The ZERO Air 16 pairs an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H — a 16-core Panther Lake chip — with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU featuring 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The system is configured with 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and 1TB of storage.

Some marketing materials and screenshots associated with the device mention an HDD, though industry analysts suggest this is likely a translation error or typo, as hard drives are rarely used in modern lightweight laptops and the device would instead utilize a solid-state drive.

Thermal management is handled by quad heat pipes. To keep cables organized during gameplay, ThundeRobot routed the ports along the rear edge of the chassis. The available connectivity includes:

  • Ethernet
  • HDMI
  • USB Type-A
  • USB Type-C

The laptop will be available in a standard grey variant, as well as a version featuring red and black accents on a white chassis.

Market Context and Competition

The ZERO Air 16 enters a 2026 lineup from ThundeRobot, a Chinese gaming subsidiary of the Haier Group, that spans from budget-friendly options like the Storm 17 to the flagship Zero 18 Pro. While the Zero Air 16 focuses on the high-performance portable niche, the Zero 18 Pro targets desktop-replacement performance with an RTX 5090 and a 250W vapor chamber.

Availability and Debut

The device is scheduled to be showcased at the Bilibili World 2026 event in Shanghai, which runs from July 10 to July 12, 2026. Other reports indicate a presence at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

The official launch of the ZERO Air 16 is set for August 2026.
