Massport Launches First US Remote TSA Terminal for Delta, JetBlue Passengers

Massport is launching a first-in-the-nation remote security terminal in Framingham, Massachusetts, on June 1, 2026. Eligible Delta and JetBlue passengers can complete TSA screening and baggage check-in at the 19 Flutie Pass facility before taking a secure bus directly to their gate at Boston Logan International Airport.

The facility, located at 19 Flutie Pass on Route 9 in Framingham, functions as an off-site extension of Boston Logan International Airport. By relocating the security checkpoint to this suburban site, Massport aims to reduce congestion at the main airport and provide travelers with a more predictable departure experience.

Passengers using the service must book their trips online, with reservations available from 90 days up to 90 minutes before a scheduled departure. Upon arrival at the terminal, travelers undergo standard TSA security screening. Once cleared, they board a bus that transports them directly to the secure side of their terminal at Logan Airport, bypassing the need for additional security screening upon arrival at the airport itself. Checked baggage follows a similar path; luggage is processed at the Framingham location and transported securely into the Logan baggage system for loading onto the aircraft.

Logistics, Eligibility, and Pricing

The program is currently restricted to passengers flying with Delta Air Lines and JetBlue. Tickets for the bus service are priced at $9, with a policy allowing children to travel free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. The facility offers 400 parking spaces, which are available to users for a fee of $7 per day.

At the program’s launch, buses will operate on an hourly schedule from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each vehicle has a capacity of 55 passengers. Massport officials have emphasized that the security standards at the remote terminal are identical to those maintained at Logan’s primary checkpoints.

The initiative is modeled after existing operations by The Landline Company, which provides similar ground-transportation services for connecting passengers at airports in Philadelphia and Chicago. For Massport, the pilot program serves as a test case for broader efforts to manage roadway congestion and terminal overcrowding.

According to Peter Howe, the project is intended to create a more seamless and convenient experience for the traveling public. By shifting the security bottleneck away from the primary airport footprint, authorities hope to alleviate the anxieties associated with unpredictable line lengths and terminal traffic.

As the June 1 launch date approaches, Massport is positioning the Framingham site as a potential blueprint for other regional airports. Officials indicated that they intend to monitor the pilot’s performance closely to determine the viability of expanding the remote terminal model. The data gathered during this initial phase will inform whether the program remains a specialized option for select carriers or evolves into a permanent fixture of the regional transit infrastructure.
