A tragic accident at the University of Karachi (KU) on Friday claimed the life of Aniqa Saeed, a second-year student from the Department of Social Work. She was fatally struck by a campus bus while alighting from the vehicle inside the university premises.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the incident occurred as Aniqa was getting off the university bus. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The university administration confirmed her identity and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a promising young student.
The driver of the bus has been taken into custody, and the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, has suspended him pending a formal investigation. The family of the deceased, however, declined to pursue legal action.

Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahoo described the incident as tragic and urgently requested a detailed report from the university. He pledged that those found responsible would face strict disciplinary actions.
Similarly, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori took notice of the accident, ordering a comprehensive investigation by the university and local police. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and emphasized the importance of transparency in the investigation process.
